Scam Alert

WELTEK - HENRY LAWRENCE & MICHAEL JULIAN - September 2011

If you have been approached by anyone from Weltek, this is a scam and as with all fraudulent activities to do with employment, please do not respond to their enquiries - they are only hoping to obtain your personal ID & bank details followed by requests for money for Visa fees etc. The 2 main players are "HENRY LAWRENCE" and "MICHAEL JULIAN" and their website is a poor copy of the Genesis site. They will have obtained your contact details via Internet Jobsites and we urge you to report the incident to the Website Management of sites where you have posted your CV.

CYPRUS JOBS WEBSITE - August 2011

There is a website called "Cyprus Jobs Website" which contains a fake Genesis advert offering a variety of jobs including Engineers and Secretaries. The phone number given is a mobile (not a Genesis number) and the e-mail address is not a valid Genesis address either. The website address is: http://www.cyprusjobswebsite.com/jobs/current-positions-available

BEWARE OF OFFERS MADE BY ANYONE NAMED CLINTON - Aug 2011

There are two new employment scammers on the block - Kelly Clinton and Ben Clinton plus their un-named associates. Neither person is a Director, employee or representative of Genesis. As per usual our advice is to ignore e-mails from these people, do not be fooled by the staged happy family photos and do not disclose any personal details to them. Contact your ISP provider too as these scammers are breaching your privacy rights with intent to defraud you!

AU PAIR SCAM - August 2011

If you are contacted by anyone claiming to be from Genesis and offering Au Pair work, THIS IS NOT GENUINE and very likely to be a scam similar to those listed below. The person claiming to be from Genesis is currently "NIXON FRANKLIN" also know as "NIXION FRANKLIN". Our advice should you be approached by this person or any else offering Au Pair work on behalf of our company, is DO NOT RESPOND TO THEIR E-MAILS/CALLS AND DO NOT DISCLOSE ANY PERSONAL DETAILS TO THEM.

"PAUL WOOD" and "ROGER THOMAS" - July 2011

These 2 are approaching people registered on Internet Job Boards and making high value fake offers of employment - followed by the usual Scammers'request for ID, bank details and payment. "Paul Wood" is suggesting he is the MD of Genesis and "Roger Thomas" is suggesting he represents a recruitment company called "GME Recruitment Agency". Neither person has any connection with our Company and we have never herad of GME Recruitment. Please see below about actions you can take if you are unfortunate enough to have been contacted by them.

"TINA WAVES" and "PAUL MINNICH" - April/May 2011

These two have been contacting people in the USA saying that they are representatives of Genesis. Happy to confirm that this is NOT the case and advise anyone so contacted to ignore all communications from these indviduals.

"MICHAEL WYATT" and "MARCUS KENT" - February/March 2011

The 2 gentlemen are claiming to own Genesis Oil an Gas Consultants and are sending out approaches to PAs/Secretaries to obtain their contact details for possible "employment". We are not sure why such "work" involves "trips to orphanages" but these are not genuine approaches about employment.

"SHAUN WHETSTONE"

This person is advertising for a PA to help him run Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants which he claims to own. Clearly a visit to the real Genesis website will put paid to that claim. "Shaun Whetstone" has been exposed as a Scammer on a website called Flakelist, the link follows: http://flakelist.org/page/viewpub/tid/1/pid/3533#comments

EASTERN ENERGY OIL & GAS LTD

As of September 2010, we are aware of someone/some organisation calling themselves Eastern Energy Oil & Gas Ltd. They have copied the Genesis Website and have renamed it as their own. This company does NOT EXIST according to UK Companies House records and our conclusion is that this is yet another SCAM and would urge extreme caution for anyone accepting employment or other services offered by these people.

HOTELS BOOKING SCAM ALERT

As of mid-February 2010, there is a Hotel Booking Scam doing the rounds which purports to be from our Company. If you are in any doubts about any such e-mail you receive, please contact our Reception/Switchboard who will advise further. So far the individuals trying this scam on are entitled "Engr Alex Marc" and "Engr Mahmood Ammar" both of whom are using g-mail/googlemail addresses and overseas mobile numbers. Their follow-up/2nd e-mail gives the game away when they start talking about making payments to Agents. We advise that you make your Legal Dept/Legal Adviser aware of any such e-mails.

SCAM ALERT - FAKE EMPLOYMENT OFFERS & INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Genesis and several other International Oil & Gas companies have been targeted by scammers who try to use our Company address details for the purpose of giving authenticity to criminal acts.

These scams are largely related to Employment Offers but there are others relating to Project Investment opportunities - both scams are aimed at obtaining money, ID details and Banking Account details from private individuals.

EMPLOYMENT SCAM

The Employment Offer Scam comes to you by e-mail offering an excellent salary - current figures between 8,500 & 13,500 GBP per month. You are then asked to make contact with another person/organisation to do with Travel or Visa arrangements - when you do this, the next move is for you to be asked for money, your Bank Account details or your ID details.

Genesis DOES NOT make employment offers without an interview, we do not send speculative offers out by e-mail and we DO NOT ask for monies to process Visas, travel etc. If it is a genuine offer from Genesis, we will pay for all those items - you do not have to part with any money at any time.

Also, we are NOT engaging people to work in SOUTH AFRICA or NIGERIA and have NOT instructed any Employment Agency/Recruiter/ "Legal Labor" Consultants to act on our behalf in those countries.

INVESTMENT SCAM

The Investment Opportunity Scam asks you to become a partner/agent or country correspondent in helping Companies secure projects abroad and you are asked to provide money or bank details to help funds move in and out of your home country. Any genuine international Company DOES NOT conduct business in this way and certainly does NOT make unsolicited approaches to private individuals.
